Since 2011, Acacia Gold Mine has been sponsoring the annual Lake Zone cycle race under the name Acacia Tufanikiwe Pamoja Cycle Challenge to raise money for supporting students from poor families, who cannot afford schooling expenses. The program started in 2011 supporting over 3936 students, 9 schools and raising 494m tsh until it came to a stop in 2014. Here are some student testimonials.

Acacia Gold Mine has partnered with CanEducate to implement educational support, a charitable organization that provides educational sponsorships to impoverished and at-risk children in developing countries.

In 2018, Ahsante Tours was the proud organizer for the sponsored cycling charity event. We were very excited and honoured to work on the relaunch of their Acacia Imara Pamoja Cycle Challenge because we are both passionate and actively involved in cycling and education in Tanzania.

More so, this was aligned with our vision to give back to the community and country that helped nurture us. Here is a video of the launch.

The event was hosted in Mwanza. Men having to cycle 140km, women 87 km and a fun 20km race. The event received over 211 participants and raised over 300m tsh same as 150,000USD.

The money will fund vulnerable and underprivileged students with uniforms, scholastic materials such as books, stationery and other supplies that enable the pupils to be fully equipped for leaning through the CanEducate program.

The program will also provide “A” level students with additional support in the form of exam fees, bedding and transport costs. Many of the “A” level students are boarders and travel long distances to access schools that offer such educational level.

How can you help?

You can help us bring hope to the underprivileged children in the lake zone area of Tanzania by sponsoring or cycling in 2019 Acacia Imara Pamoja Cycle race.
