Our walking safaris give you the freedom to explore the Tanzanian wilderness like you've never done before. From the lush green forests to the dry bush lands we take you off the beaten tracks and bring you closer to nature. Accompanied by an experienced professional guide and armed ranger to ensure your utmost safety, you will get to explore remote areas inaccessible by vehicles.
Walking safaris can either be a stand-alone tour or part of a longer wildlife safari depending on your preference. We organize walking safaris in Serengeti, Tarangire and Lake Manyara National parks as well as the Ngorongoro Highlands.
You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to the Weru Weru River Lodge (or alternative) in Moshi where you will meet your guide and be briefed about your walking safari. Overnight at the Weru Weru River Lodge (or alternative).
You will be picked up at the lodge at 08:00hrs and transferred to Ngorongoro Crater for a full day game drive. Packed lunch will be provided during your game drive in the crater. After your game drive you will be transferred to Karatu for dinner and overnight. Overnight at the Karatu Forest Tented Camp.
Transfer to Nainokanoka Camp in the morning. Lunch at Nainokanoka Camp which lies at 2600m. Afternoon tour of Olmoti Crater 3000m. The hike from camp to Olmoti crater rim is about 45 minutes long. Chances of either seeing Maasai herding their cattle or wildlife in terms of buffalo is possible. Dinner and overnight at Nainokanoka Special Campsite.
You will depart Nainokanoka Camp (2600m) at 08:30hrs and commence your trek to Bulati Village (2500m). The trek is 6 hours of walking and 20km in distance. On the way, zebras and wildebeests can be seen grazing as well as raptors due to the many mole rat mounds found in the area. Late afternoon transfer to Bulati village to visit the Maasai Bomas then you will be transferred to Bulati Campsite. Dinner and overnight at Bulati Campsite.
After breakfast you will depart Bulati Campsite (2500m) to Empakaai Ngoben Campsite (2600m). The trek is 16kms long and takes approximately 4 hours. Plenty of spectacular panoramic views of the landscape can be seen. After taking packed lunch you will descend into the crater. The caldera is 300m deep and 6kms wide. The trek down is 45minutes and roughly an hours walk back up. After your crater visit you will be transferred to Empakaai campsite. Dinner and overnight at Empakaai Campsite..
After breakfast you will walk a short distance around the Empakaai crater (2600m) to stretch our legs and get some good panoramic photos of the caldera. This walk is 5km long and will take approximately an hour. You will then be transferred by vehicle from Kibangasi to Nayobi (about 11km). From Nayobi we will trek to Acacia Campsite. The trek is 13km long and duration of 3 hours downhill. Late afternoon you trek to view the surroundings and to take photos of Ol Doinyo Lengai. Dinner and overnight at Acacia Campsite.
You will wake up very early on this day 0530hrs, breakfast will be served at 0630hrs and we begin our trek at 0730hrs. The terrain is very dry. You descend the Rift Valley Escarpment to the base of Oldoinyo Lengai (about 10km). From here you will be transferred by vehicle to Kamakia campsite in Lake Natron. Later on, you will take an excursion to Lake Natron to see the flamingoes and Engare Sero waterfalls. Dinner and overnight at Kamakia Campsite.
After breakfast an early morning transfer back to Moshi or the airport for your onward flight back home.
